Winter/ Spring Class Schedule
Winter Jewelry Classes From the Studio of Monique Rancourt
Location: Washington Street Art Center
321 Washington Street

Jewelry I Tuesday 6:30pm-9:30pm, 10 weeks Beginning
January 17th- March 20th no class Feb 14th and 21st
Registration cost : $350
Pre-Requisite: None
Jewelry I will provide students with the Basic technical knowledge of traditional metalsmithing and jewelry techniques as well as the development of designs. In conjunction with learning the art of metalsmithing, we will educate the students about the influential community of artists working with jewelry as an art medium. Students will be guaranteed individual attention throughout a ten-week course from Jewelry artist Monique Rancourt, based on a small group setting that will never exceed 5 students.
During the Ten weeks students will learn techniques such as: design layout and piercing, texturing metal, cold connections and riveting, soldering, basic stone setting, finishing, polishing, and patinas. Students will use these techniques to design and create two original jewelry designs.
Most tools are provided. However students are required to purchase some basic hand tools. A list will be provided at the time of registration.
Jewelry II: Wednesday evenings, 6:30-9:30 Every Tuesday beginning April 18th-June 13th
Pre requisite: Jewelry I or any beginning Jewelry course.
Registration cost and Materials Fee: $350
Jewelry II will provide students the opportunity to hone in on the skills they learned in Jewelry I. with a focus on earring mechanisms students will learn three new Techniques. earring mechanisms. Salt water etching on Copper, And Epoxy Inlay. As always students will be guaranteed Individual attention from Jewelry Artist Monique Rancourt Based on the small group setting that never exceeds 5 students.
In Addition to the new techniques students will begin to develop a concept by compiling a visual resource sketchbook, multiple etching samples as well as Designing and completing at least two original Jewelry designs.

Notes: All Registration costs and fees must be paid before the start of the class in order to hold your spot. Cancelleations must be made two weeks Prior to the start of class in order to receive a Refund.

Transportation: For those of you who drive there is ample parking at Washington street art center located at 321 Washington Street in Somerville. 3 minute walk from Union Sq. (heading towards Harvard Square on Washington Street), 20 minutes from Harvard Square (walk straight up Kirkland street until it turns into Washington St.and look for the center on the left).
Near or on the following bus routes: 87, 83, 86, 91.
We are on the right side of the parking lot of the BORNSTEIN RUG & FLOOR COVERINGS COMPANY..
